This lesson will demonstrate how to convert text into a hyperlink. Links can connect to other web pages or file downloads.

Create the link display text

This is also called "anchor text".

Open the insert link pop-up window

1. Highlight the text you want to convert to a link
2. Click the link icon in the toolbar

Enter the Link URL

If you're linking to an outside source, it's best to choose the "Open link in a new window" option so visitors won't navigate away from your website.

Add a link to a file

After you've determined the file path (see How do I upload files to my website?), enter the relative URL. Then click Add Link.

The highlighted text will now be displayed as a link.

1. To edit the link, click the same link icon
2. To remove the link, click the broken link icon
